Our Mission Statement
Our educational mission and philosophy is to provide and ensure:
-
An environment where children can develop physically, intellectually, emotionally, and socially
-
Individual attention that address the needs of each preschooler
-
A warm, loving, kind environment with an exciting and adventuresome atmosphere
-
A safe and healthy environment
-
Varied curriculum
The program’s curriculum is appropriate for the year before a child enters kindergarten. Children MUST be toilet trained (NO exceptions). The Maryland Mandatory Kindergarten Law includes specific guidelines for dates of kindergarten enrollment for students with fifth birthdays. Since many different high school students will be teaching the preschoolers, the program is designed for the pre-kindergarten child who can cope with daily changes and flexible scheduling. Applications for preschoolers are accepted on an annual basis. A list of participating children is kept by the Early Child Development teacher. This will help to ensure that the program serves as many Montgomery County children as possible. Children with special needs may remain in the program for more than one year, with the recommendation of MCPS Child Find staff members.
